Which airport should you fly to?
RSW – Southwest Florida
The best and most convenient option is RSW – Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.
It’s a small, friendly airport that’s easy to navigate – and just about 30 minutes by car from the house.
There are several good flight options:

-
Lufthansa flies to RSW via Frankfurt
-
SAS now also offers flights to Fort Myers
-
Air Canada is another great option – flying via Canada means you clear both ETA and ESTA there, so when you arrive in Fort Myers, you simply pick up your luggage and skip the immigration lines. Super smooth!

Unforgettable sights with
Banana Bay tour Company
Highly recommended: Dolphin Sunset Tour!
Head out in the evening and watch dolphins leap around the boat – they often swim right alongside you!
Captain JR is fantastic at explaining how dolphins live and behave, and he really gets the kids involved, making sure everyone has a great time.
Book in advance via their website!
Sometimes you can find discount coupons online – try searching for “Discount Banana Bay Tour Company.”
Why not enjoy dinner at Rum Runners before the tour?
The boat departs just outside the restaurant.

A fun and flavorful experience!
Punta Gorda – Fisherman’s Village
Join a lovely guided tour with generous tastings – and finish it all off with shots in the shop! During high season (December–March), reservations are required.
Punta Gorda – Fisherman’s Village
1200 W Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda
Here you'll find a classic boardwalk lined with shops and restaurants. It’s a super cozy spot, whether you visit in summer or winter. This is also where the “Christmas Light Tour” departs, arranged by King Fisher Fleet – a must-do experience that sells out fast! Call 941-639-0969 to book your tickets. A magical dose of holiday spirit, both on board and all around!

Wildlife with heart
Naples Zoo
Located in Naples (1590 Goodlette-Frank Rd), this zoo isn’t just fun – it’s meaningful. Here, they care for animals that have been rescued or are endangered, so your ticket supports real conservation. It’s a manageable size, ideal for families, and offers up-close experiences like zookeeper talks and feeding sessions. A visit here makes for a beautiful day trip that feels both inspiring and educational.

Like a mini Key West
Pine Island & Matlacha
Only 30 minutes from the villa, this colorful little paradise is well worth the trip. Drive across scenic bridges and discover quirky houses in bold colors, many of them charming art galleries. You’ll also find waterfront restaurants perched on wooden docks – perfect for a laid-back lunch or sunset dinner. It’s one of those places that’s hard to describe and impossible to forget.

Sometimes the best memories are made around a simple table. These are our go-to spots when we want something easy, cozy, and full of flavor – from burgers and ribs to sushi and seriously good pizza.

Casual favorites & family-friendly eats
Ford’s Garage - Burgers, beers, and a fun atmosphere. A favorite for families – and friends!
Lehne Burger - A bright green little house where you build your own burger and milkshake. It’s as fun as it is delicious.
Rib City - Great ribs, pulled pork, and grilled classics – all at very friendly prices. Tastes like summer.
Master Crab - Try their seafood boil bags! We always go for the Cajun seasoning – spicy, messy, and totally satisfying.
Applebee’s - A reliable favorite for all ages, with generous portions and something for everyone.

Cracker Barrel (Fort Myers)
Classic American comfort food, rocking chairs on the porch, and a store full of nostalgia. Try the meatloaf with mashed potatoes!
Sakura Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar
Cycle your way here and enjoy some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. The hibachi grill is a hit too.

Chicago Pizza & Nice Guys Pizza - offers that classic American vibe, while Nice Guys surprises with truly amazing flavor. Many choose takeout – the pizza speaks for itself!

Outlets we love
Shopping favorites
Burlington Cape Coral
This is Cape Coral’s very own outlet-style gem.
We love popping in for a quick visit – it only takes about 15 minutes – and we often find great deals on brand-name clothing for the whole family.
Expect up to 60% off stylish fashion, home decor and more. A fun and easy stop if you’re in the mood for a little bargain treasure hunt!
Sanibel Outlet – small, easy, and just right
Located at 20350 Summerlin Rd, Fort Myers, this outlet has just the right size and feel. It’s easy to park, easy to browse, and packed with all the brands you’re looking for. Honestly? Our favorite!

Estero Outlet – for the serious shopper
10801 Corkscrew Rd, Estero
If you’re ready for a full shopping day, this is the place. Much larger than Sanibel, it’s an open-air outlet with endless stores and big-brand bargains – and a lot more visitors too. Bring comfy shoes and go for it!

Wicked Rum Distillery
This is one of our favorite local spots! Wicked Dolphin makes award-winning rum right here in Cape Coral, using Florida sugarcane and lots of passion.
They offer fun and informative tours (with generous tastings!) and the staff are always super friendly.
We absolutely love their rum – and the best part? Villa Flamingo is just a tipsy stroll away. Salud!

University Grill (Fort Myers)
Great service, beautifully prepared dishes, and a welcoming atmosphere. One of our top picks when we head into town

Let the exploring begin.
